WTSN gets set to make history by becoming the first network to televise the Women's Tour of Curling with 45 hours of live coverage this season.
WTSN, the world's first 24-hour women's sports network that is set to launch September 7, will televise live coverage of the semi-finals and finals of five of The Tour's bonspiels. TSN will repeat coverage of each final at a later date. The Women's Tour of Curling is the first nationally televised curling event of the season.
"WTSN is thrilled to kick off its first year with such a popular event. Canadians love curling and we're happy to bring our viewers these exciting bonspiels," says Sue Prestedge, senior vice president, WTSN. "With the top names in women's curling expected to compete, we're looking forward to an intense rivalry - one we know our viewers will enjoy!"
The five events that will be televised live on WTSN are The Husky Autumn Gold
(Calgary, October 5-8), The South Western Ontario Women's Cashspiel (London,
October 12-15), The JVC Women's Classic (Winnipeg, October 17-22), The Parktown
Hotel Ladies Classic (Saskatoon, October 25-29) and The Community Savings
Curling Classic (Red Deer, November 2-5). These five bonspiels were chosen for
their rich history, tradition and strong reputation as well as their world-class
rinks.
